Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a lesson?
Call me, see me, email me, text me, or book conveniently on-line! All lessons are booked on the hour.
Where do we meet?
You can find directions to The Acres driving range on my Location page. Check into the golf shop.
How early should I arrive?
I recommend you arrive at least 5-minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment.
How long is a lesson?
Most lessons last about 50 minutes.
How available are you?
My lesson book is open Tuesdays through Thursday, and Saturday. The first time slot is 10:00 a.m. and the last is 5:00 p.m. You cannot book same day lessons, only at least one day in advance.
How do I pay?
Good question! Cash or a check are kings, but I also accept the four major credit cards, and Venmo (contactless).
Payment is made at the conclusion of our first session. Or, you can purchase in advance by clicking on "Buy Lessons Online!" page.
What happens in the case of inclement weather?
Lessons will be under cover and heated, if necessary. Only a driving, sideways rain from the east or very cold temperatures (less than 28 degrees) can affect us.
I’m a beginner or novice golfer. Can you help me so I can start to play golf?
Absolutely! You need to learn how to roll the ball the correct distance on the greens, how to make partial swings and loft the ball into the air so it stays on the green, and how to make full swings that get the ball airborne. If you learn to do these correctly, your path to having fun on a golf course will happen quickly. The best way to learn to play golf is Operation 36 Golf https://operation36.golf/.
What is your teaching or swing philosophy?
Click on the "My Philosophy" page to see how passionate I am about teaching you to play better golf.
Can a new set of golf clubs lower my golf scores?
Only slightly, and only if you are fitted for them. I see and hear of so many people buying a new set of golf clubs for $500 to $1000 every other year thinking that will miraculously give them a better golf swing and lower golf scores. A much better investment would be $500 to $1000 on a long series of high quality golf lessons to learn the correct fundamentals of golf. This way you would have an awesome golf swing and only one set of golf clubs.
Do you offer playing lessons for your students?
Definitely. This is probably the very best way to work with a student. Can you imagine a basketball, football, soccer or baseball coach who doesn‘t see his players play? From the on-course golf lesson, we can together identify your weakest areas or where you lose the most strokes, and then concentrate on what is needed most.
How many golf lessons do I need to become a better player?
There are no shortcuts or magic fixes. Change is hard and takes time. Don’t be fooled. I recommend at least a 5-lesson package plan if you are serious about improving. Swing plane – the angle your Downswing comes into the ball – is very abused in amateur golf, you will need a least 5 weeks of instruction to fully understand what swing plane is and how important it really is. Then you will start hitting golf shots that are accurate and consistent. From this point you should have a real solid golf swing. And then there is your short game – don’t forget about that.
I have heard that golf lessons will mess up my golf game?
Practice is the key here. I teach people HOW TO PRACTICE. If you practice correctly, often, and short in duration what I am teaching you, then your game will be BETTER than ever. PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT; the more you practice the more permanent the swing will become.
Do I have to change my whole swing?
Everybody does some good things in their golf swing – we want to keep these. If you’re doing something wrong it needs to change. There are key areas of the swing that must be right or no improvement can take place. In most cases not everything is off. If you want to get better you must be willing to make the changes needed. Before we change any movement we video your swing so you know exactly what needs to change. It is my job to show you what you’re doing, and what is holding you back from improvement. Side-by-side comparisons with touring pros will shed light on what is happening. Side-by-side comparisons of your swing Before and After will show you the direction a change can make. We will make small changes one at a time, in a proven sequence that will keep you playing.
How long does it take to make these changes?
That is a tricky question. We’re all different. I’ve had people calling me six months after completing their lessons saying, “I had trouble at first, but I knew you were right and I stuck with it and now I’m playing better than I ever had in my life.” I've had people improve right off the bat. You just don’t know. Usually your worst swing fault is your 6-foot hurdle and takes the longest to change. But I do know you will improve if you stick with it and practice correctly. Slow motion repetitions and training is the fastest way to change – you have to do the work.
Are your lesson series programs expensive?
They range from $209 for a 3-lesson series, to $339 for a 5-lesson series, to $649 for a 10-lessons series, to $1149 for a 20-lesson series, to $1500 for unlimited lessons for a year. This is about the same cost as that new set of irons or driver you think might lower your score. Click on "Buy Lessons Online!" to see the whole list of lesson options.
Do you offer a discount for junior lessons?
To answer that I need to ask you three questions. How much should I discount for junior lessons? Is their golf education worth XX% less than your golf education? And, did I suddenly become a XX% less better teacher? If I can get acceptable answers to the last two questions, I might consider a junior discount.
